Detour Open House for Bridge Rehabilitation

ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Transportation will hold a Detour Open House on May 22 to display detour plans for proposed bridge rehabilitations in Douglas County.
 
This project proposes bridge rehabilitation on six (6) bridges over I-20 in Douglas County. Bridges are located along Tyson Road over I-20 eastbound; Tyson Road over I-20 westbound; Post Road over I-20; Liberty Road over I-20; Burnt Hickory Road over I-20; and North County Line Road over I-20. The bridge rehabilitations will include bridge jacking, deck preservation, cap strengthening, and painting the steel beams.
 
Bridge closures for construction will be between 30- 60 days for each bridge, during which time detours or on-site traffic changes will occur to maintain access and safety.

The Department is seeking public comments on the proposal. The informal meeting will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 22nd at Mason Creek Middle School, located at 7777 Mason Creek Road, Winston Georgia 30187.

Comments may be submitted during the open house or by June 28th using any of the following methods: 

  • Online at www.dot.ga.gov/PS/Public/PublicOutreach.
    • From the menu, select the county in which the proposed project is located (Douglas County) and click Go;
    • Select 5/22 and 6/14/18 M005699 Bridge Rehab at 6 Bridges;
      Click comment and follow the instructions.
