Many people may be unaware of the race for District 5 School Board member. District 5 is mostly down Post Road and westward.  You may recall that this position was vacated by Republican Jeff Morris before his term had expired to take a position at the State.  However, the School Board appointed a Democrat to replace him without a special election or consulting with the Republican Party, evidently allowed by law, and she is running as the Incumbent against Glenn Easterwood.    Now, however, the people in that district can ELECT THEIR CHOICE for that post in the upcoming General Election, November 3.

KUDOS TO SHERIFF, TIM POUNDS, for crossing party lines to endorse incumbent Clerk of Superior Court, Tammie Howard.  Folks, this is a rare move these days for a member of one party to endorse a candidate of another…. but it is refreshing.  When we go to vote, we should always vote for who we believe to be the best candidate for the county, state, or federal office.  Sheriff Pounds stated in a film produced by Tammie's campaign,  ...(paraphrased) Ms Howard is doing a great job and knows everything about the Clerk’s Office, and that this office is crucial to the process of law and order here in Douglas County.    Shouldn’t we ALL vote for the person we believe will do the best job?  Thank you, Sheriff Pounds, for setting a good example!!

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” PASTOR ADRIAN ROGERS

"There is no such thing as 'safe' socialism. If it’s safe, it’s not socialism. And if it's socialism, it’s not safe. The signposts of socialism point downhill to less freedom, less prosperity, downhill to more muddle, more failure. If we follow them to their destination, they will lead this nation into bankruptcy." Margaret Thatcher
